A Champion Weekend

Wow!  What a weekend!  Chris and Gray left early Saturday morning to go to the Boy Scout campout.  They did everything from bb gun shooting to archery to fishing!

It was such a fun weekend for the two of them.  Gray had been looking forward to it since forever, and I think Chris was just as excited.
Even though I had no desire to go with them since I am not the outdoor type, I did ask that Chris send me pictures throughout the day.  He knows how to make me happy!
The biggest part of the day was when Gray was recognized in the ceremony that night for being a "top shot" with the bb gun.  There were about six of them that were recognized and he was up against kids way older than he was.  I guess he has a lot of that Mitchell blood in him!  (And some Beasley shotgun skills that he gets from Granddad!)
Overall the weekend was a smashing success!  While the boys were away, Katherine declared it a day of "me and you."  She decided that morning that she wanted to run in the City Cross Country Championship.  She placed third in the Kindergarten group!

Several of her friends were running.  These sweet girls have played together since they were babies!
I love how sweetly they encourage each other.
Go Katherine!

And look at that sweet face!  I love how proud she is of herself!

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend...until Sunday night when the flu bug hit and took down the two boys.  Probably those close quarters in the tent! So sad--we are hoping for a speedy recovery around here!

The Punkin' Patch

Fall Break is here and we spent our last day heading to the pumpkin patch at church.

The kids had a blast picking out their pumpkins and choosing the perfect one for carving!  It warms my heart that we get to do this every year.  As I was watching them go around and pick the pumpkin they wanted, I couldn't help but think to myself, "When did they get so big?"
